How do I change my privacy settings? ​

Note: This article applies to WorkBuddy consumer products including WorkBuddy Free, Pro, and WorkBuddy Desktop. For enterprise deployments and API usage, contact your organization's administrator.

At WorkBuddy, we take your privacy seriously. This guide explains the privacy settings available to you and how to control how your data is used.

Privacy Settings Overview ​

WorkBuddy currently offers the following privacy controls:

  • Model Optimization: Choose whether your data can be used to improve our AI models
  • Memory: Control whether WorkBuddy generates and stores memories from your conversations
  • Local Memory: Control whether memories are stored locally (available in cloud mode only)

Modifying Privacy Settings on Desktop (Mac/Windows): ​

To modify your privacy settings on your computer:

Model Optimization Setting ​

  1. Open WorkBuddy Desktop application
  2. Click on your profile picture or name in the top-right corner
  3. Select Settings from the dropdown menu
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the Settings panel
  5. Find "Help Improve WorkBuddy" (帮助优化模型)
  6. Toggle the switch to ON or OFF

What this setting does:

  • When ENABLED (default): Your conversations may be used to train and improve our AI models
  • When DISABLED: New conversations will not be used for model training

Memory Settings ​

  1. Open WorkBuddy Desktop application
  2. Click on your profile picture or name in the top-right corner
  3. Select Settings from the dropdown menu
  4. Click on "Memory" tab on the left sidebar
  5. Adjust the following settings:
    • Generate Memory (生成对话记忆): Toggle ON/OFF to enable/disable memory generation
    • Local Memory (本地记忆): Toggle ON/OFF (only available in cloud mode)
  6. To view or manage your memories, click on the memory preview card

Modifying Privacy Settings on Mobile Device: ​

To modify your privacy settings on your mobile device:

Model Optimization Setting ​

  1. Open the WorkBuddy mobile app
  2. Tap your profile picture or name in the top-left corner
  3. Select Settings
  4. Scroll to the bottom
  5. Find "Help Improve WorkBuddy"
  6. Toggle the switch to ON or OFF

Memory Settings ​

  1. Open the WorkBuddy mobile app
  2. Tap your profile picture or name in the top-left corner
  3. Select Settings
  4. Tap on "Memory"
  5. Toggle "Generate Memory" ON or OFF
  6. Tap on the memory card to view or manage your memories

Model Optimization (Help Improve WorkBuddy) ​

What happens when you enable "Help Improve WorkBuddy"? ​

When this setting is ENABLED (default):

  • Your conversations may be used to train and improve our AI models
  • Data is processed according to our privacy policy
  • You contribute to making WorkBuddy better for everyone

When this setting is DISABLED:

  • New conversations will not be used for model training
  • Your data will still be included in model training that has already started and in models that have already been trained
  • We will stop using your previously stored conversations in future model training runs

Important Notes: ​

Memory Settings ​

WorkBuddy can generate and store memories from your conversations to provide a more personalized experience.

Generate Memory (生成对话记忆) ​

Default: ENABLED

When ENABLED:

  • WorkBuddy will analyze your conversations and generate memory entries
  • These memories help WorkBuddy remember your preferences, context, and past discussions
  • You can view and manage these memories in the Memory settings panel

When DISABLED:

  • WorkBuddy will not generate new memories from your conversations
  • Previously generated memories will still be accessible (you can delete them manually)

Local Memory (本地记忆) ​

Default: DISABLED Availability: Only available in cloud mode (not available in WorkBuddy Desktop local mode)

When ENABLED:

  • Memories are stored locally on your device
  • This provides additional privacy as your memory data doesn't leave your device

When DISABLED:

  • Memories are stored in the cloud (if you're using cloud mode)

Managing Your Memories ​

To view, edit, or delete your memories:

  1. Go to Settings > Memory
  2. Click on the memory preview card (shows a preview of your memories)
  3. In the Memory Management modal, you can:
    • View all memory entries
    • Edit individual memory entries
    • Delete specific memory entries
    • Reset all memories (delete all at once)

To import memories from other AI assistants:

  1. Go to Settings > Memory
  2. Click on "Import Memory" button
  3. Follow the instructions to import your existing memories
