β¨ New Features β
Persistent Scheduled Tasks Taken Over by the Background Service β
Persistent scheduled tasks are now handled by the daemon first, with cross-process single-active execution, execution leases, execution history, and failure retries. Tasks are no longer interrupted or executed twice when a process exits, execution is traceable, and failures can be retried according to policy.
WebUI Editing Experience Improvements β
- Editor and terminal interaction: Improved editor search, input menus, and terminal tab interactions, with better keyboard accessibility, status feedback, and distinguishability across multiple terminals, making it easier to tell which terminal you are in.
- Scheduled task execution history: Execution history can be filtered by status, time, and keyword, with stable pagination and shareable detail routes.
π§ Improvements β
- Search performance in large repositories: Switched to cancellable streaming search, controlled result limits, and file-scope pre-filtering, reducing memory usage and unnecessary scanning when searching large repositories.
- Terminal connection stability: Improved the terminal connection lifecycle and resource cleanup, reducing state anomalies during reconnection and view switching.
- Mode command expansion fix: PTC, Create, and Multitask modes now correctly expand custom commands and MCP commands.
π Bug Fixes β
- Model selection for standalone main Agents:
ptc/minimal/createnow inherit your model selection from the same source as standard mode (CODEBUDDY_MODEL>modelinsettings.json), instead of silently falling back to the first entry in the model list. - Mode definition inheritance for standalone main Agents: ptc / minimal / create / multitask now fully inherit from the product's default Agent, fixing Agent definition fields being silently lost on modes and cross-contamination caused by modes sharing references with the base. When the configuration lacks a default Agent, the mode family no longer disappears entirely.
- Context compression for standalone main Agents:
ptc/minimal/create/multitasksessions andmainAgent: truecustom preset sessions now participate in emergency auto-compression just like standard mode, so long sessions are less likely to hit the context limit. - Stop hook continuation for standalone main Agents: When a Stop hook returns a continuation request, standalone-mode sessions are no longer treated as subagents, and validation / continuation semantics match standard mode.
- Model and budget resolved by the Agent actually running in the session: For standalone-mode sessions, the request thinking toggle, context compression budget, and execution identity of queued messages are now resolved based on the Agent actually running in the session, rather than always using the product's default Agent. This fixes thinking fields being sent to the wrong model, compression trigger points being calculated against the wrong window, and queued messages executing under the wrong Agent identity when the default Agent and running Agent had different tiers.
- MCP sessions no longer leak: When the CLI process exits (session ends / closes, single-shot run completes, TUI exits, etc.), it sends the protocol-defined termination request to MCP servers, instead of relying on server-side timeouts for cleanup.
- Read-only / restricted file systems: Fixed the entire turn crashing when writing image blobs to disk hit file system errors such as a read-only file system (EROFS) or missing shard directory (ENOENT). Write failures now degrade gracefully without interrupting the session. The
writetool returns a clear permission-related error on read-only file systems. - No more out-of-memory when reading many large images in one turn: Previously, reading multiple high-resolution large images in a row could crash due to memory exhaustion without any message. Now dimensions are reduced to the target size range before compression, and each image is re-encoded only once (previously up to four times), greatly reducing memory usage.
- Image alpha channel preserved: Images with an alpha channel are no longer converted to formats that do not support transparency during compression.
- Clear explanation when total images in a turn exceed the budget: After the total size of images read in the same turn exceeds the limit (128MB), subsequent images are no longer loaded and a clear explanation is returned, suggesting continuing to read them in later turns. The budget resets per turn, so images are not permanently rejected.
- Faster, more memory-efficient image reading: Removed repeated disk reads and repeated encoding of the same image, as well as full-image decoding done solely to verify that the bytes are decodable.
- Isolated bulk deletion denial state: After denying a bulk deletion, only retries of the current tool call are blocked; subsequent independent deletion calls in the same conversation turn are no longer wrongly denied.
- WorkBuddy expert team member avatars and names: When team members use a role name as their runtime name, the ACP team state now also passes through the stable Agent type, preventing the role name from being mistaken for the expert identity after multiple turns or context compression, which caused avatars and names to fall back.
- Web editor Explorer stability: Fixed directory expansion state jumping, expanded directories showing empty content after refresh, and delayed file tree updates.
- Web editor file sync and auto-save: Open files now detect disk updates promptly, editing shows pending-save and saving states, and automatic overwrites are blocked when external content conflicts.
- Goal review panel: Fixed pressing Esc causing repeated back navigation that made the input box disappear.
