✨ New Features

Mods Extensions

Embedded hosts and the Server can now extend Agent behavior through Mods:

  • Embedded hosts can use Mods to extend input, context, and tool behavior, with extension state isolated per execution scope
  • The Server can load Mods from enabled plugins in a session; module state, file access, and cleanup belong to their respective sessions, and tool authorization follows the existing checks

Per-Turn Deferred Tool Discovery

Built-in tools, host tools, and MCP tools can be set to deferred discovery per turn, while preserving tool permissions, argument validation, and approval checks.

πŸ› Bug Fixes

  • Startup failure when mods are not enabled: Fixed headless and the JS SDK failing to start due to missing esbuild when mods were not enabled. TypeScript/TSX mods can be loaded without installing an additional compiler
  • More efficient project settings reading: Missing workspace .codebuddy/settings.json / settings.local.json files are no longer opened repeatedly, eliminating a large number of unnecessary file accesses after session startup. Project settings created later still take effect immediately
  • Auto Memory no longer affects permission mode: Memory extraction performed after task completion no longer modifies the current session's permission mode, preventing subsequent tasks from abnormally inheriting bypass
  • Remote Control preserves the user's permission choice: When reusing an interactive session, the permission mode currently selected by the user is preserved; only standalone remote sessions use unattended permissions
  • Mods stability: Fixed requests failing to finish after cancellation or denial while an input hook was waiting, hooks executing repeatedly or sharing context across sessions, and arguments being lost when tool argument names collided with hook event field names. Arguments rewritten by hooks still go through the existing validation and security checks
  • Server approvals and Plan feedback: Fixed deferred tools missing the "Allow for this session" option after the Server enabled Mods, and continue-planning feedback being lost when rejecting a Plan, causing the model to resume prematurely
  • Tool results no longer misinterpreted: Tool results preserve their native structure, preventing ordinary JSON text from being misidentified as a turn termination signal
  • WorkBuddy plugin installation failures: Fixed plugin installation failing while the WorkBuddy built-in plugin marketplace was updating. When an update fails, the installed version continues to be used
