β¨ New Features β
Web UI Browser Notifications β
Web UI completion notifications add a browser notification channel delivered by a Service Worker. Notifications are reliably delivered even when the page is in the background, the PWA window loses focus, or the tab has been closed, and they also work in cloud / desktop-less environments.
- Choose one notification channel: Settings β Notifications now offers "Off / System Notifications / Browser Notifications". System notifications keep their existing capabilities (sent directly from the local machine, no site permission required, unaffected by port changes). The two channels no longer fall back to each other automatically, avoiding cases where one channel is selected but the other is used.
- Click to jump to the session: Clicking a notification consistently brings the window to the foreground and navigates to the corresponding session (supported for both the main conversation and colleagues / background tasks).
- Boundary hints: Browser notifications are unavailable in subpath (base-path) mode; the Settings page shows an inline hint and keeps the system notification option.
- First-time authorization in Safari: Fixed the Settings page still showing "Blocked" after clicking "Allow" for the first time in Safari, which previously required a page refresh to recover.
Mods Ecosystem Enhancements β
- API aligned with Claude Code: Mods now see the same API as Claude Code 2.1.293. Events such as completion, system prompt, @file attachments, session messages, telemetry, compaction, and exit all take effect. New calls include
$.process.spawn,$.mcp.connect,$.session.version,$.ui.copy, and$.ui.selection. Hooks can switch the model or reasoning effort for a single request, rewrite subagents and configuration, and even answer directly without calling the model. - Run the community mod Flightdeck: Use
--plugin-dirto run the community mod Flightdeck (a real-time Agent dashboard) as-is: reactive state, live following of model requests, observation of subagents and permission decisions, animated panels drawn in the terminal, and status line configuration. In the CLI Web UI, mod panels are docked in a sidebar next to the conversation.
π§ Improvements β
- Update management: The background service reports CLI update status and supports checking immediately, and can be configured to restart automatically when idle after an update. The Web UI follow-up queue has moved above the input box, using a compact summary and providing clear action feedback.
- Automatic MCP login renewal: When authorizing an MCP service, the CLI requests renewal capability from the server. If the server supports it, the login is renewed automatically after expiration with no manual reauthorization required. Already logged-in services take effect after their next authorization.
π Bug Fixes β
Readable MCP authorization failure reasons: When remote MCP service credentials expire or the authorization service returns an error, the message is no longer just
Invalid OAuth error response ... [object Response]. Authorization errors are now correctly recognized with guidance to reauthorize, and error messages include the actual reason and status code.Idle-spinning daemon background service: Fixed an issue with standalone binary installations where the Linux background service registered by
daemon installrepeatedly sent the installation path to the model as a prompt, continuously consuming quota. After upgrading, runcodebuddy daemon installonce more to fix it automatically; the background service also stops retrying automatically within a few minutes when it encounters errors.New sessions no longer carry over the previous message: Fixed the first user message of the previous session being re-seeded after clicking "New Session" inside a Web UI background agent. Also fixed the inline summary in the left-side list staying on old content after switching sessions instead of refreshing with new turns.
Sessions with background history can be forked: Fixed sessions containing background subtask or Agent Teams history not being forkable.
Images no longer lost while background tasks wrap up: While automatic processing after a background task completes is in progress, messages with images sent by the user no longer lose their images and are added to the ongoing processing just like text-only messages.
Security approval in Code Mode: In PTC / Code Mode, tool calls requiring security approval (high-risk commands, sensitive file access) no longer fail outright. Interactive sessions show a nested approval prompt where the call can be approved or denied, while non-interactive sessions explain how to allow it.
More stable proxy requests: Fixed HTTP/HTTPS proxy requests failing after the host adjusted JavaScript stack trace settings (model requests and telemetry are fixed as well). Local protocol mismatches are now reported as connection errors and no longer retried via other addresses.
Corrected embedded CLI arguments in Electron: Fixed subcommand arguments being shifted when the CLI runs inside an Electron app (such as the built-in CLI in CodeBuddy Desktop):
codebuddy install <version>now installs the specified version instead of failing.Reverted security review configuration inheritance after
/clear: New sessions start with everything off by default and only take effect after the Host re-delivers the security review configuration, avoiding performance issues caused by carrying over the previous session's pending policies after a session is cleared.Disabled tools hidden from search: After a tool-level permission deny, the tool no longer appears in ToolSearch descriptions, search results, or exact lookups.
