โœจ New Features โ€‹

Web UI Onboarding Guide โ€‹

The first time you open the agents page, a step-by-step guide walks you through your twin, how to bring agents into channels to collaborate, what modules can do, and the limits of their capabilities. The welcome area provides clickable guide cards, and you can rewatch the guide at any time from the avatar menu, the settings page, or the command palette.

The welcome area and the desktop launch page for choosing a working directory now both use the latest agent avatars, while your twin keeps its own dedicated look.

๐Ÿ”ง Improvements โ€‹

Desktop Built-in Browser โ€‹

  • When CodeBuddy Desktop provides a built-in browser, the workbench no longer shows the Web UI's own browser preview. The "Open Browser" entry and links in conversations now all open in the Desktop built-in browser.
  • The corresponding tabs and entries now use a globe icon; regular browsers keep the original preview.

Workbench Saved per Session โ€‹

Each session keeps its own tabs (including the Desktop built-in browser). After switching sessions, refreshing, or restarting, the workbench is restored to that session's state. When you navigate to another page, the built-in browser collapses so it no longer covers the page.

Browser Tabs and Address Bar โ€‹

Tabs now use a pill style and display site icons. Browser tabs size themselves to their titles and the toolbar is centered. Blank pages follow the theme, and several details were fixed, including leftover page content, menus being covered by the page, and pressing Enter in a Chinese input method mistakenly triggering a search.

Model Selection Panel โ€‹

Added a standalone details area that follows the cursor and wraps text automatically, with descriptions preferring the system UI language. The list adjusts the number of visible items to the terminal size, and switching through long lists no longer leaves stale details behind.

Image and File Transfer โ€‹

Full previews are kept when reading images, avoiding repeated transfer of image data and reducing the overhead of reading large or multiple images. Replaying historical images now uses resource references, reducing memory usage.

Windows Shell Environment Snapshot โ€‹

Snapshot generation now writes function definitions directly instead of encoding and restoring them one by one. When the CLI starts in a command execution environment with deletion protection enabled, snapshot time drops to about 1โ€“2 seconds, so the first command no longer has a long wait.

๐Ÿ› Bug Fixes โ€‹

Conversation and Task Status โ€‹

  • When a conversation is canceled, file changes already written to disk keep their real execution results instead of being recorded as "Canceled by user".
  • Fixed model request errors not actually being retried while the frontend kept showing "Generating".
  • Fixed tasks that completed normally after context compaction still showing "Canceled by user".
  • Memory extraction no longer records an empty compaction as successful, so subsequent conversations can still be compacted normally.

Remote Access โ€‹

When accessing the Web UI remotely, new agents can now choose "Full Access" without the unsupported permissionMode error, and it can be set as the default permission.

PowerShell and Command Execution โ€‹

  • Fixed PowerShell assignment scripts being parsed as Bash, which left the subject of the sandbox command decision empty.
  • Fixed -EN / /en. in file names or paths being misidentified as encoded commands, causing ordinary commands to be blocked entirely.
  • The Web UI now correctly prompts for string escaping before executing Bash commands. Automatic commands no longer wait indefinitely for standard input that no one will provide, and background tasks show why they were moved to the background and how long they have been running.

Web UI Stability โ€‹

  • Querying Git ignore status in the file tree no longer causes the CLI to exit or interrupts tasks; non-Git directories display the file tree normally.
  • Agent task status stays consistent with the server, and the input box no longer shows a lingering "Running" state after a taken-over task ends. Tasks now run headless, so startup no longer depends on a PTY.
  • The interactive terminal now correctly displays text results returned by plugin tools instead of [object Object].
  • REPL collapsed headers now show the command content by default along with its description, instead of only an uninformative Code / REPL.

Installation and Updates โ€‹

Fixed an issue where running from a source directory or an unmanaged entry point mistakenly updated a different global installation, repeatedly reinstalled it, and reported a corrupted installation.
