✨ New Features

Model Capability Updates

Updated the built-in model catalog, availability scope, context capabilities, and billing information, and synced image and video generation model configurations. The latest models can be selected directly in /model.

Web UI Settings Enhancements

  • User settings are now consistent with the CBC configuration model and support search.
  • The agent context menu now includes workspace settings, which can be edited in the right-side workspace per agent working directory. Agents with the same working directory share the same configuration, and settings can also be reset to inherit user settings.
  • The agent sidebar keeps only the global navigation avatar. Workspace settings and conversation export are consolidated into the agent context menu, and background and completed agents can export their corresponding transcripts directly.
  • Fixed context menu secondary groups not closing after the mouse leaves.

Video Preview in the Editor

The Web UI editor can now preview videos directly. When opening MP4, WebM, OGV, MOV, M4V, AVI, and MKV files, the browser's native player is used, with play, progress, volume, and full-screen controls.

πŸ”§ Improvements

  • Optional wall-clock timeout for synchronous subagents: Set a time budget (positive integer in milliseconds) via CODEBUDDY_SUBAGENT_TIMEOUT_MS. When a synchronous foreground subagent times out, it is terminated and its result is handed back to the main Agent to continue, so the main Agent no longer waits indefinitely. Behavior is unchanged when not set.
  • More accurate cancellation terminal state: A2A tasks canceled by the caller are no longer reported as execution errors. The terminal state is success without an error body, and a new terminal_reason field indicates whether the abort occurred during model output or tool execution. The terminal state when stopping from the client side also includes this field. If a tool happens to be waiting for approval at the time of cancellation, it is no longer reported as permission denied.
  • Archive rollback in the macOS sandbox: Creating or updating archives via zip, rar, 7z, or tar is now integrated with file backup and rollback registration, so accidentally modified archives can be rolled back. Scenarios such as multi-volume archives, deleting source files, and extraction keep the original command behavior and clearly indicate that they are not protected by rollback.

πŸ› Bug Fixes

  • Follow-up questions mid-conversation: Fixed messages sent with "send without interrupting" being lost from subsequent model context after triggering tools. The final answer now consistently includes the questions you added.
  • Credits for empty-stream retries: When a conversation automatically retries due to an empty stream, credits already incurred are also counted toward the current turn's consumption, keeping the chat display consistent with billing.
  • Manual compression: Manual compression triggered while the main task is still running or waiting for tool confirmation now waits until the main task is idle before starting, instead of racing the current turn, and the compression summary no longer leaks as a regular conversation message. Continuations after auto-compression that end normally are no longer misreported as canceled.
  • Context window settings: set_config.contextWindow no longer wrongly rejects valid upstream tiers because of a lagging local model catalog. Enterprise model lists no longer return 404 behind gateways with path prefixes.
  • Long stream-json sessions: Fixed background task notifications changing the request identity so that terminal states could not be matched, blocking subsequent requests. Late results from the previous turn are now isolated.
  • Agent Home message delivery: When the target session is busy or has not finished restoring, the inbox records an explicit waiting phase and reason, consumes messages immediately once idle, and retains messages for retry when delivery fails.
  • Plugin status reporting: plugin_status is now off by default and on by default only in the CLI UI version. It can still be explicitly overridden via an environment variable.
  • Custom Agent file links: File links pointing outside the agents directory are skipped, and project-level Agents continue to take precedence over user-level Agents with the same name.

πŸ“ Documentation Updates

  • PTC background command guidance: Clarified how background tasks are hosted within a session and added systemd user unit usage for tasks that need to survive across sessions, avoiding reliance on bare nohup / setsid processes.
