✨ New Features

Web UI Quick Access

⌘P and β‡§βŒ˜P are merged into a single panel, giving you one entry point to find everything:

  • Just type to search recently opened files while also searching the entire workspace
  • Type > to run commands, / to use slash commands, # to jump to a conversation, and ? to view help
  • Back / Forward buttons are added to the left of the top search box, letting you navigate back and forth between agents, conversations, pages, and files
  • The search box can be closed; in the desktop app it blends into the title bar and is also available in full screen
  • "Open Folder" supports navigate-as-you-type and keyboard operation; if loading fails, the reason is explained and you can retry

The desktop app remembers window size and position, and "Notify when done" works properly again.

Project Instruction File Lookup Can Be Disabled

When starting a session in a project subdirectory, CODEBUDDY.md / AGENTS.md files are looked up and loaded level by level up the directory tree by default.

If a subdirectory has its own instruction files and you don't want them overridden by rules from parent directories, you can now turn this off:

  • Setting: memory.parentDiscovery: false
  • Environment variable: CODEBUDDY_DISABLE_PARENT_MEMORY=1 (takes higher precedence)
  • The "Memory" group in the Web UI settings page also provides a corresponding toggle

When disabled, only the instruction files and rules directory of the startup directory itself are loaded.

πŸ”§ Improvements

  • Lower resource usage when idle: Pet animations use tiered frame rates by state and skip redraws when nothing changes; background polling and event streams automatically back off when the service is unhealthy and return to their normal pace after recovery
  • More power-efficient during task execution: Streaming replies now use a ~30fps cadence (same speed); all looping animations pause when the window loses focus or the page is hidden, and resume automatically when you return
  • Cleaner conversation process: Thinking no longer takes up a line before each tool and can be viewed by hovering over the tool row; titles now count actual operations; long tasks show only the most recent steps, with earlier ones expandable in one click
  • File change summary becomes a pill: "N files changed +X -Y" is shown above the input box; click to expand, view the diff, or undo this turn's changes, instead of inserting a card into the conversation flow every turn. Also fixed previous turns being counted after reloading history
  • Desktop polish: Window buttons and the title bar are vertically centered; Back / Forward skip entries that would not change the view; a "Back to my twin" button is added to the right of the search box; Quick Access panel text is unified at 13px; the version number is now shown as a tooltip when hovering over the logo
  • More reliable remote host installation: Installs into separate versioned directories and switches via a current symlink, so upgrades no longer affect the running version, with at most two copies kept on disk; the preparation timeout on slow machines is relaxed, so 504 errors no longer occur

πŸ› Bug Fixes

  • Remote Control security hardening: Fixed a bypass of login rate limiting; the mobile Web terminal no longer puts the gateway password in the URL, and the password is no longer permanently kept in the browser's local storage; added Host header validation to prevent malicious web pages from controlling the local Gateway via DNS Rebinding
  • Remote Control stability: The Tunnel process recovers automatically after an unexpected exit; failed message sends no longer spin forever; long-connection timeout timers no longer leak; background polling on the job page pauses to save power
  • Twin automatically restored after restart: After the background service restarts, the Web UI twin restores the last opened session, and Relay Web bindings automatically follow the current service, with no manual rebinding needed
  • Channel tools work properly again: Main Agent posts, direct messages, and task board edits are no longer misjudged as "no Agent Home identity"; channels reusing members now get a lead added, no longer leaving empty channels that cannot dispatch tasks; failures to send the opening message are clearly reported
  • Remote host page no longer freezes: Creating / resuming agents after switching to a remote host no longer hangs, and a circuit breaker with retries kicks in automatically when the remote route is unavailable
  • Opening the Web UI via a Relay Web binding sub-path now connects properly: Bus and terminal WebSockets no longer fail to connect
  • Occasional agent restart failures on Windows: Atomic disk writes now back off and retry when the target file is briefly locked, instead of failing immediately
